Rules are changed for Tatkal train ticket, now no refund for confirmed Tatkal tickets
Railways has changed the rules of Tatkal tickes to avoid misarrangements. Now identity card has to be shown for Tatkal tickets and a photocopy has to be attached with application form. Tatkal ticket can be issued before 24 hours of departure of train. If Tatkal ticket is confirmed then no refund will be given on its cancellation. If lost, no duplicate ticket will be issued. If you want duplicate ticket you have to pay Tatkal fee and full fare again.
These arrangements are dont for Tatkal tickets:
* Ticket can be booked only before one day.
* Tatkal ticket will be given on only 4 passengers on single PNR.
* IRCTC web agents will be able to book only 1 Tatkal ticket in a day in a train.
* No refund will be given to cancel a confirmed Tatkal ticket.
* Tatkal ticket reservation will be available only on showing one of railway authorised 8 identity cards. This service will also be linked to Aadhar in future.
* Brokers will not be able to book Tatkal tickets from morning 8 to 10.
* While booking for Indian railway tickets on Internet information of the identity card hase to given with which the journey has to take place. This information will be shown on printed ERS and Tatkal ticket chart also.

A system called SIMRAN or Satellite Imaging For Rail Navigation has been prepared, by which the status of the train can be seen on Internet. This has been set up in 12 main trains as an experiment. In this system a GPRS appliance will be attached in the train which connects to railway master server. On every station the latest situation will be displayed through display board. People will be able to know that which train is where at any time. One more special thing is that this information will be available on mobile phone also through SMS. You can now find out your train status on mobile phone. To get the information related to your train schedule, you have to send an SMS on a number issued by railway (09415139139), after which you would get information of status of train, late running position of train and reaching on next station in kilometers. In first stage this service is started in total 12 routes of Delhi-Kolkata, Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Lucknow routes. Modern communication in rail activities and use of information technology would provide actual running time of train. This system is based upon satellite which will be operated by SIMRAN program. This new service will provide much convinience to passengers travelling by train.

Yes, now you do not need to stand in long cues to book train tickets, you will get the ticket by SMS. Passengers were waiting for this service from a long time but their wait is ended now. IRCTC sales 2,80,000 train tickets daily and for Tatkal tickets IRCTC website is visited daily by 2.5 to 3 crore people, while in festival days this number goes up to 4 crore.
Through Railway's mobile ticket reservation you will book tickets by your smart phone, after which Railway will send you an image of ticket. This image will be accepted for journey. There will be no need to print this image, but passengers have to keep identity card with them. To avail this facility passengers will have to register them on IRCTC website, after that IR will issue an ID and password, after which the passengers will be able to book the ticket.
